The city is a big place. Everybody should have a bar they call home.
Urban Tailgate is the first website designed exclusively to bring sports fans together both online and in the bars. Right now we're limited to New York City, but we'll be coming to most all major cities soon! Create your profile today and finally find out where your fellow fans will be watching the game.
Signing up is fast and easy. We don't ask for much and just about all of it is so that we can contact you to let you know about good places to watch the game, what drink specials are going on at those bars and also chances to win free gear.
1. Picking teams...
After signing up, we ask you to pick your favorite teams so we can customize your experience on the site. We're not limited to football! You can pick just about any team you'd like... it's probably going to be in our database. Letting us know what your favorite teams are allows us to send you weekly emails about where to watch them out in the city and about any special events that may be going on in your area. It's the heart of the site!
2. Find the good bars for your team.
Once signed up, you can head over to your team's page and see what's going on, most importantly... where are all the fans watching? After all, that's what we're all about. We have a pretty intimate knowledge of where the crowds are but we factor in such things as where our users are saying they're going to be watching as well. Our goal isn't to try and tell you where to watch the games it's about accurately telling you, the fan, where all the other fans are. When you tell us what bar you'll be at, that information is used to calculate what bars have a larger number of fans attending on a regular basis. If the fan-base moves to another bar, that's reflected. Our users are a huge part of what makes the information on Urban Tailgate especially useful.
3. Make friends and meet up to watch the games!
Like many other sites these days, we allow you to make other users your friends. This allows you to see where they'll be out watching ball games so you can join them.
We also allow users to specify what bar they're going to be watching the game at. If you so choose, you can let the system notify your friends that you'll be out. Your friends, if they have chosen to accept emails, will then get a brief email letting them know where you'll be, at what time, etc.
A nice side benefit of this is that it allows us to get a very accurate representation of where fans of teams are going. When we say that a certain bar is a good bar for your team... we're using data from people actually going there as opposed to us just blindly picking a place. Urban Tailgate is about really being able to find good places to watch your teams at. It's about the fans.
